This is André Kuijpers and like myself he is a regular contributor to the File Under music webzine. But whereas I can hardly play a guitar chord to save my life, André is quite an established musician. As he had recently assembled a band consisting of Erik van der Heijden, Berrie Koot, Freek Imbens and Niels van den Heuvel, André was looking for someone to take some promo photos of them. I was honored to be asked to do that job.
On what started out as a rainy day, Jeroen Trispel (thanks for your help mate!) and myself made the trip over from Arnhem to Breda, where I had chosen the square behind the Chassé theater as location for the shoot. We were lucky that it didn’t rain anymore during the shoot, but apart from that conditions were far from ideal. It was very hazy without any ‘structure’ in the sky, which made it very difficult to create some drama in the shots. In the end I made the decision not to try and create something that basically wasn’t there, so I used the sky as a white canvas to paint the picture. Think it worked out quite well…
