Dub A La Pub & Revelling Crooks @ Krad-Halle, Augsburg March 26th 2011

If you would have told me a year ago I would be shooting at a gig in the deep south of Germany I’m pretty sure I would have told you in return that you had no idea what you were talking about. But guess what? About a month ago I did exactly that!

The world is full of miracles and thanks to such a small (or should I say not so tall? hehe, sorry for confusing you) but beautiful miracle I wound up at the Krad-Halle in Augsburg (close to Munich) on March 26th 2011.

The band I had come to see were the Revelling Crooks, but as we were there with plenty of time to spare before they started playing we actually managed to catch some tunes by the opening act too: Dub A La Pub.

More (including two full photo galleries) after the break…

Dub A La Pub were a nice surprise with their mix of traditional reggae, dub, dancehall and hip-hop elements. Great to see a band having a such a nice party on stage with every band member participating in the fun and this atmosphere was surely picked up by the audience too.

But the Revelling Crooks sure know how to party too! Their hyperactive interpretation of folk-/ roots-music (aptly named ‘speedfolk’ by themselves) heated up the otherwise cold and industrial Krad-Halle as if a bonfire was set alight… It’s easily understandable why they’re one of Augburg’s most famous bands, but dare I say that they might be famous outside of Augsburg too?

It was cool to shoot at this gig, which has been the one furthest from home so far. But keep your eyes peeled for more posts from gigs in foreign locations later this year…

Please take note that both bands are in a separate gallery… Enjoy the photos!
